Apple’s iPhone had little or no updates to the UI ever since its inception (2007 June). The homescreen is way too boring when compared to the ever so popular Android phones. To add some life to the existing iPhone homescreen, install a free application called ‘Element’. It is a Cydget widget. You no longer have to launch each individual app (weather, email, sms, calendar,.. updates). Following are the steps to install it on your iPod Touch / iphone.

Your iPhone should be jailbroken before proceeding.
Launch Cydia and search for ‘Element’ and …

We saw the release of iPhone 3.0 firmware, a remarkable release in the iPhone history though without tethering support for some countries (US-AT&T being the BIG one!). Well, folks at BenM.at have achieved a feat that enables you to experience a seamless iPhone tethering experience! Seriously, this couldn’t have been easier/simpler!
Before you start :
1) Make sure you download and install iPhone firmware 3.0 from iTunes 8.2.
2) Make sure not to exploit this service thereby alarming ATT and giving them a chance to slap you with a hefty monthly bill, we …

The people from RipDev Team working on caterpillar found a hidden feature in iPhone. This feature allows you to take screenshots which are then saved in the camera roll. The best part being “Support for taking a screenshot of iPod, Youtube, locked home screen” … This makes it the first time we could achieve it the Apple way! It just requires to patch some variables in the SpringBoard file. To watch the hack in action –

Add http://repository.ripdev.com/ to your installer sources.

Yes, the word is out. Though it was practically possible as soon as Jailbreak for 1.1.1 was announced but it took me many hours of tweaking (more than 18) but couldn’t get my Cingular sim back at work (without the 2 year contract). I searched all over the internet but none were reporting positively about 1.1.1 Jailbreak let alone Cingular working on it. This post at TechDadBlog initiated hope after clueless searches on Google for 1.1.1 hack. Vaughan and Mike did a great job on trying different alternatives. Finally, with …

The entire world is ecstatic about the iPhone and iPhone Dev team announced the official hack (jailbreak) for the much coveted iPhone f/w 1.1.1 by a simple TIFF exploit, thanks Niacin. No more hunting for batch pre-38 week iPhones. The best part being – we can finally order an iPhone directly from Apple without fearing if it would work and hey, you can apply your iPhone store credit if any 🙂
Why do you even have to upgrade to 1.1.1 when 1.0.2 is working just fine?? Forgot the sound enhancement, iPhone …

I was astonished to see this update this morning. It works with a SuperSim hack and hey all iPhone lovers around the world, the iPhone is no longer a WiFi iPod!! This is the current status of The Mission and good to see words of confidence amongst the team.

People all over the world are eagerly waiting for the BIG news and the hacint0sh guys are at work after a small break, hence the delay in updates they say. Anyways, enthusiasts who bought the iPhone worldwide were reportedly using all of iPhone’s features except for the ‘Phone’ part.
They hit a roadblock working to Unlock the iPhone via BootLoader (‘kin Apple Security!) but they say they have another method to achieve the purpose as …

Well, the word is (un)officially out from iPhone Dev WiKi and Nanocr confirming that iPhone which has never been activated can be used a glorified iPod with WiFi features. Both the sources followed similar approaches and attained an even similar results – Independence day gift indeed 🙂
Though the entire process of achieving the iPod and WiFi functionalities of iPhone without even doing anything AT&T is recommended forhardcore geeks at the moment cos’ it is pretty complicated. Anyways, the cracks are out and can be accessed from http://iphone.fiveforty.net/wiki/index.php?title=Major_Release and http://nanocr.eu/ – whichever you …
