Downgrade, Activate, Jailbreak 1.1.3 in a Nutshell!

3 February 2008 7 Comments

I upgraded an OTB 1.1.2 to 1.1.3 using Nate’s method. I found it to be a pretty not-so-complicated upgrade. Then I tried SummerBoard which made me think twice about using DevTeam’s jailbreak instead. SummerBoard posed so many issues with Nate’s 1.1.3 Jailbreak. So, following are the steps taken to downgrade a 1.1.3 Jailbroken (Nate) iPhone to 1.1.1 followed by an upgrade to 1.1.2 and then finally upgrading to 1.1.3 using DevTeam’s Jailbreak.

Files needed : 1.1.1, 1.1.2 firmware files.

Step 1 : Sync your iPhone to iTunes. Hold the home and power buttons till you see ‘Connect to iTunes Screen’ on your iPhone.

Step 2 : Click on ‘Ok’ on the prompt and hold the Option key (Mac)/Shift key (Windows) and click on Restore. Locate the 1.1.1 firmware file(ipsw) you downloaded.

Step 3 : You will see a 1015 error at the end. Fire iNdependence / iBrickr which would boot the iPhone.

Step 4 : Follow this simple guide (my fav) and activate/jailbreak your 1.1.1 iPhone. At this stage, I tried my Cingular SIM which gave no signal. I felt that it is a 1.1.3 Downgrade and no signal issue. Don’t panic, proceed to the next step. Trust me!!

Step 5 : Now follow this simple guide for 1.1.2 iPhone activation/jailbreak.

Step 6 : You are all set for a sit-back-and-relax-guide for 1.1.3 Dev Team’s jailbreak.

Important : Go to Settings -> General -> Auto-Lock -> Never. Trust me this will save lot of tension in this 30 minute ordeal!! Make sure you have access to a high speed WiFi access-point.

Step 7 : Open installer.app and launch ‘1.1.3 Jailbreak DevTeam’ . Watch your favorite TV show or do your homework while this huge file is downloaded and installed to present you with a Jailbroken 1.1.3.

Post install instructions :

You will have to delete 300 MB space occupied by the downloaded firmware file by launching ‘1.1.3 Soft Upgrade cleaner’ found in installer.app -> Recent Packages.

Google Maps will still refuse to pinpoint your exact location. Locate Me/ Navizon GPS should safely assist Google Maps in this situation!

Summer Board works great unlike Nate’s 1.1.3 JB method.

@Raju : For 1.1.3 DevTeam jailbreak, modiphone repo ain’t required. Atleast I didn’t use it!! It won’t hurt to use it though 🙂

awesome thank you very much I just got the 16gb 1.1.3 OTB iphone and have it jailbroke The only issues I had was when I was updating to 1.1.2 there was no option to update (only button was restore, the other could not be clicked) I managed to fix that by closing itunes and all processes assosiated with apple, then started itunes by holding shift when I clicked the icon ands held it untill a menu popped up about importing my music library. I guess this is almost like a reset button. Also, the file I used to upgrade is called OFFICIAL 1.1.3 Jailbreak DevTeam…took me a lil bit to find it…was looking for just 1.1.3 Jailbreak DevTeam
