Easiest & Fastest way to Unlock 1.0.2 iPhone (Mac and Windows)

9 October 2007 35 Comments

As we are gearing towards a 1.1.1 hack release which the TIFF exploit in Safari achieved, why don’t we make life easy for the average joe in unlocking a virgin iPhone! We are talking about YouTube, installer.app, Unlock and a lot more in about 10 minutes!!

Tools required :

  1. First, connect your iPhone to iTunes atleast once (don’t proceed to step 2 in iTunes ;)!
  2. Now quit iTunes and iTunesHelper processes and launch INdependence 1.2.1 a.
  3. Click on Activate iPhone and point to the extracted firmware location. (Change the extension from .ipsw to .zip and extract to Desktop).
  4. Give it few minutes and it should activate your iPhone. Now exit INdependence.
  5. Launch AppTapp installer and choose the firmware version (1.0.2 is suggested, if not refer to this article) and point towards the extracted firmware files (Desktop) when asked.
  6. Now you should see the installer.app on your iPhone. Click on it and install Community Resources followed by BSD SubSystem and OpenSSH(This step may be ignored)!
  7. Now, launch Mobile Safari on your iPhone and type http://iphone.blurgle.ca/repo in the address bar. If you see a file cannot be downloaded error, make sure installer.app (step 5) is installed. Open it and then go to Safari and type the above-mentioned URL.
  8. You should see anySIM app in your list of apps in installer.app Click on it to install it on the iPhone.
  9. Click on anySIM icon on the home screen and follow the instructions (make sure you set the sleep mode on iPhone to ‘Never’). Read the disclaimer and click ok. Now sit back and relax while your iPhone is unlocked, wait we didn’t SSH into your iPhone yet!! Well, we need not anymore!!

Hope you enjoyed your unlocking experience. Enjoy the apps even more!! Please donate to the iPhone Dev Team (every penny counts) 🙂

That really depends. You might want to refer my earlier post on serial numbers to determine it. Visit http://ilikemyiphone.com/wordpress/?p=97

Can I unlock a iphone with window. How do I do it?

  • admin said:

I am afraid we cannot (yet). Intel Macs for now…..

  • Masa said:

I completed this procedure but it doesn’t show any signal from my carrier.

Hi, thanks for this tutorial! One thing, i did everything but im stucked on the last step..
Ive read the disclaimer and clicked OK but the screen hasnt changed into a loading bar or something like that… is it like this? I mean, does the screen stays in that image and then gives you the “unlocked successfully unlocked” message? If so, how long does it take?

    Thanks, fuser

  • admin said:

@Fuser : That means that it is not being unlocked … You might want to check if it is Jailbroken. I also suggest you to use th elatest version of the free anySIM software. Hope it works for you this time around 🙂

  • Fuser said:

Hi, thanks for the quick response… do i need to jailbrake it? Where can i download the latest anySIM and transfer it to the iPhone

    thanks again!

    fuser

  • Fuser said:

Hi, i did jailbroke it with INdependence so thats not it…

  • admin said:

Hmmm, it happened to me once, I don’t remember what I did but it worked. Lets do it this way : Launch this URL in Safari (iPhone) : http://iphone.blurgle.ca/repo This will automatically add anySIM 1.1 to your installer. Restart your iPhone and refresh installer.app and then find it under system. You should be able to unlock it this time, hopefully!!

    Good luck!

  • Fuser said:

should i first delete the other anySIM ? Also, can i then delete the instaler, anysim and everything else so that it looks like just bought?

    Thanks, fuser

  • admin said:

yep, its better you delete/uninstall the other anySIM before installing the new one. You should be able to unlock it if you follwoed the above mentioned steps.

Hi, i think its unlocked (thats the message i got) but then i got a “incorrect SIM please connect to Itunes to activate” … is this okay? I inserted an Argentinian SIM Card as im from Argentina but im on Miami now so i dont have coverage of course… can that be it? I mean, the SIM has no signal at all..

Also, can i uninstall anysim and the installer now?

Thanks so much for the support. I will blog about your site on SiteNewspaper.com and promote this unlocking method as hard as i can

Hi!! Now that you got the unlock successful message followed by an Incorrect sim error – u need to activate it one last time (by using INdependence or iBrickr) – it won’t take more than 3 minutes. It is a common error message btb.

    Congrats for unlocking!!

Thanks for the PR too 🙂

Hi, so i reactivate the iPhone with a Cingular SIM and had signal and was able to use it. Then i change the SIM to the Argentinian one and got a “connect to iTunes to activate” so i reactivated the iPhone with the Argentinian SIM and now i get a “No Service” but this is 100% because i dont have signal or service here right?

I have to say, i say many unlock method but usually from people that posted the technique and never answered any comment from questions to trouble shootings and i saw you did so i thought of giving it a try

I must say… i was VERY VERY VERY LUCKY

    Thank you so much,

    fuser

Last thing i promise.. i cant uninstall the AnySIM app.. i get an “error during uninstall script execution” .. is there a way to delete it via my MAC instead of from my iPhone?

Thanks and sorry for being such a burden

    Thanks, fuser

  • admin said:

    You are welcome!

There you go – now that you got a no service ,that means it is activated for good now!!

Im happy for you, I can go to bed now!! I believe in sharing rather than capitalizing 🙂

    Enjoy your iPhone!

  • admin said:

You can do it using INdependence. Click on customize and go to apps->users-> delete the anySIM app. You need to install ssh to do all these.

First do a Jailbreak, followed by installing ssh (connect to wifi and note the ip from wifi settings).

Hope you understand my instructions – im little sleepy already!!

    mine is firmware 1.0.2
do i need to make it 1.1.1 first to make it works?

  • Chobits said:

whenever i restore it to 1.1.1, it’s always failed, and when I have the 1.0.2 unlocked, I can’t just upgrade it to 1.1.1 since I need to virginize it first (I failed).
If I use iTunes to update the firmware, I get 1.1.2

AAAAAAAA !!!!! It drives me crazy !!!! Oh …. I have 1.0.2 firmware with 04.03 something modem firmware that supposed to be on the 1.1.1

    Help !!

  • Kiran said:

I would suggest you to use the unlocking tools by adding i.unlock.no packages in installer.app

You can update to 1.1.1 by hitting (alt/option) key on your windows/mac computer.

I am ready to provide one on one support for you – I did it before and am happy to succesfully resolve some REALLY major issues with firmwares!!
