Jailbreak, Activate, Unlock and Customize iPhone 1.1.2 the Easy way (so far)!!

Well, now that 1.1.2 is released for quite some time now – why is the world not abuzz about upgrading to it? Mostly because – there is no reason to! Some say 1.1.2 sports better battery life while others say the iPhone performs faster (did it ever under perform?)!! For whatever reason, if you want to upgrade to the latest and still enjoy all the features (including unlock!!).Activating an iPhone 1.1.2 without iTunes is really a big deal because INdependence doesn’t support 1.1.2 yet and iDemocracy wasted some valuable hours due to poor or insufficent documentation! He did a great job with .Net F/W 3.5 but the app itself is too complicated – well Windows users have no other choice when it comes to 1.1.2.So, my current setup : iPhone 8GB, Cingular sim (no iPhone contract), Macbook (Leopard), 1.1.2 Jailbreak s/w from Conceited S/W, iTunes 7.4.2 and lots of patience 😉

  1. Assuming your iPhone is up and running on 1.1.1 with installer.app on it. Not on 1.1.1 yet, check this fastest guide now!
  2. (If you unlocked your iPhone using anySIM, please Virginize your iPhone before updating. It can easily be done by using unlocking tools from i.unlock.no. Just hit virginize for your firmware).
  3. Now, install OktoPrep under Tweaks 1.1.1 section in installer.app to prepare your iPhone to 1.1.2.
  4. Now update your iPhone to 1.1.2 from iTunes as usual. Don’t hit Restore, hit update instead 🙂 Don’t worry about any errors it spits out. If update fails, just see if your iPhone still has firmware 1.1.1 and OktoPrep installed (Very Imp). Then proceed with update from iTunes. (It should work this time).
  5. If your iPhone is still shown in Restore mode, then launch iNdependence 1.2.5 to kick the iPhone out of it.Your iPhone is updated to 1.1.2 if your iPhone shows the new activation screen with Emergency calls slider written in 3 different languages.
  6. Now comes the Jailbreak step which was complicated till now. Not anymore. Conceited Software made it so easy with the latest release of jailbreak software. All you have to do is launch jailbreak.jar and relax! Follow the on-screen instructions (Reboot the iPhone when told and voila : Your iPhone is activated!!). There is a Windows.bat(present in the jailbreak software you downloaded before) for Windows users which I didn’t try.
  7. Now that your iPhone is activated, time to unlock it. You already have installer.app showing if you came this far. You can unlock your iPhone using iphone-elite’s version of anySIM.
  8. As far as customization is concerned, we already have installer.app and almost all the apps are reported to be working just fine with 1.1.2 (Customize has an option for 1.1.2 inbuilt). There you go, comment in case of jubiliant victories/failures 🙂

p.s : I spent long hours figuring out the right procedures for activation and stuff but my aim is to save others from wasting their time!! Please support Conceited software and iPhone Devs to continue this journey 🙂

    Didn’t work for me unfortunately.

After running the latest anySIM, I got the endless reboot screen and could not get out of it.

Back to 1.0.2, then 1.1.1 then I’ll leave it there until a concrete solution appears!

Is it just me or has theres till not been a way discovered for unlocking a 1.1.2 factory shipped iPhone? The current processes do not work on the newest bootloader and I haven't seen any news about a new process.

    Thanks,

    -b.

This is the way to unlock the iphone 1.1.1 upgraded into 1.1.2. Do you know how to unlock the one 1.1.2 out of box. I have just bought this in the last Friday, omg … the 1.1.2 which currently impossible to unlock.

An out of the box 1.1.2 hack is not yet published due to a different bootloader. It should be released soon though! I understand the pain in having a new iPhone and not being able to use it. But it definitely is worth the wait 🙂

    Hi all ,

I have a few general enquiries. I owned this iphone of mine which is of version 1.0.2. And it’s unlocked.

I am contemplating of upgrading to it latest firmware of V1.1.1 or V.1.1.2. However, I am not sure whether my iphone baseband is corrupted. Is there a way to check ? Also, with does the above-mentioned software unlocks V1.1.2 before i can upgrade it to that version. Meaning it does the unlocking stuff at my current V1.0.2 , hence upgrading it to V1.1.2 allows me to use it instantly . Does it work that way ? I am really confused. I hope you all could help.

I am newbie in jailbreak and revelant softwares for unlocking. Maybe you guys can provide some site references for an idiot like me

I look forward to your reply

    Thank you

    Kind Regards,
    Jeremy

@ Jeremy :: You can restore the baseband firmware to wipe the changes made by the unlock soultion (anySIM) by using oneSIM or Virginizer under Unlocking tools in installer.app 🙂 So u need not worry if it is completely wiped cos’ the program will let you know if it was successful in doing so 🙂

Once you follow the virginizing of baseband firmware process, you can go ahead with upgrading to 1.1.2 and unlocking it. Jus following this post and the previous post (1.1.1). You are all set 🙂

What you’re trying to say is that you’ve unlocked firmware 1.1.2. Get it??????? I have an iPhone 1.1.2 and it is a brick. Got it!!!! The boot-loader on this f^&*(r needs to be cracked! Over and out!

Guys, I have an 1.1.2 OTB iphone downgraded to 1.1.1 and jailbroken via jailbreakme.com. Everything works fine except there is no service (using att sim).

Another post, pointing to this thread here says that following above instructions to upgrade and jailbreak/activate to 1.1.2 would allow use of att sims.

    Can anyone confirm this??

After oktoprep’ing and running itunes upgrade to 1.1.2 how can I kick the phone out of restoration mode on a windows system?

    Thx
