Apple’s iPhone had little or no updates to the UI ever since its inception (2007 June). The homescreen is way too boring when compared to the ever so popular Android phones. To add some life to the existing iPhone homescreen, install a free application called ‘Element’. It is a Cydget widget. You no longer have to launch each individual app (weather, email, sms, calendar,.. updates). Following are the steps to install it on your iPod Touch / iphone.

Your iPhone should be jailbroken before proceeding.
Launch Cydia and search for ‘Element’ and …

If (You are looking to buy the Kindle or Nook)

Then Buy the iPad!

ElseIf (You like reading e-books on a portable device)

Then Buy the iPad! Remember, it may hurt your eyes if you stare at it for long hours.

Geohot failed to release it, but comex did. Here is the full guide.
Geohot did it again, this time with a nice video-proof. Apple’s heightened security with the latest bootrom in ipt2,3 and 3GS iPhones forced many to resort to tethered jailbreak which can be a pain when your iPhone decides to reboot on the go. A blackra1n like app should soon see the light of day for total freedom to all Apple mobile gadgets! Till then, check geohot’s post.

I have been using TeamViewer and Logmein for quite sometime now. I find TeamViewer to be a lot more straightforward and easy since I can easily initiate a remote session with most of my less tech-inclined friends’ PCs/Macs when they need some help.
Logmein’s iPhone app comes with a $29.99 price tag while TeamViewer outed 2 iterations of their app – FREE and $99.99! I checked the FREE version out in the following video and it worked flawlessly!

iPhone 2G, 3G, 3GS users can now safely update to 3.1.3 firmware without updating the baseband (for unlock). UPDATE : 3.1.3 Custom Firmware for iPhone 3G and 3GS now available!
The Dev Team did it again in style by releasing Pwnage tool for 3.1.3 iPhone Firmware. 3.1.3 Firmware from Apple is not a noteworthy upgrade and it is suggested you skip it! Few bug fixes, battery fixes, unlock-mess ups are everything Apple has to offer with 3.1.3 firmware! Some of us just like the higher software version and there is nothing stopping us from trying it, eh?
3GS users should proceed cautiously. No kidding! Drop a comment if you have …

Apple tightened security with iPhone 3GS and the latest 3GS hardware version is only capable of tethered jailbreak 🙁
Saurik, the man behind Cydia implemented a clever approach to bypass Apple’s insane security features of the 3GS! He explains the whole process in great detail here.
In short, all you have to do is :
Jailbreak your iPhone 3GS. Trust me it is easy, fun and super productive to jailbreak your iPhone and it is perfectly legal!
Launch Cydia on your iPhone 3GS
Click on ‘Make my life easier, thanks!’. If you don’t see it …

This cannot be stressed enough. Skip the latest Software Update 3.1.3 and have a nice time with your 3.1.2 iPhone 2G/3G/3GS! Apple supposedly fixed some bugs with 3.1.3 but as always they strive hard to break the jailbreak capability which in-turn breaks the unlocking capability.
iPhone Dev Team strongly suggests you tame your temptations to update your iPhones to 3.1.3! iPhone 4.0 is the way to go (we still have few months atleast though)..
Google on the other hand released the most wanted OTA update for the Nexus One today (coincidence?!). Google …

Google shipped the Nexus One in record time (It took 22 hours from the time I ordered to the time I received it!). As always, I want more out of it, so I had to Root my device. I use both Apple and Android phones and the main striking difference between the two being – iPhone is a completely closed platform while Android is totally open source! Google’s flagship device, Nexus One was Rooted even before the retail version came out, that is how Google wants the user to enjoy …
