Update : Mac version is now released too! Download it here. I prefer Dev Team’s solution cos’ we can preserve the baseband fro unlock!
Geohot released a Windows version of jailbreak only tool for iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 2G/3G running at 3.1/3.1.2 firmware. Before even thinking about this jailbreak program, read this important warning over and over!
Blackra1n won’t Unlock 5.11 baseband. It just jailbreaks and it won’t hacktivate. This translates to the following :
You can use this program ONLY if you have an official iPhone contract and you don’t …

One more minor upgrade to the 3.1 iPhone firmware that was recently released. Please be cautious when updating your iPhone to the latest firmware using iTunes. This cannot be jailbroken nor unlocked at the moment. Since it is a minor firmware upgrade, we can definitely live without it for few more days!
Play it safe with iTunes updates people!

UPDATE : The issue has been fixed in the latest update released. Launch Cydia and update GV Mobile to v1.22.2 and you should be all set!
Sean Kovacs’ GV Mobile is no doubt the best native iPhone client available only on Cydia after Apple’s asinine decision to block all Google Voice related apps from the AppStore.

GV Mobile App suffered from some issues after Google Voice changes on the web front end. The two known issues being :

Invalid Credentials Error
Login Info not being saved (requiring username/password each time the app was launched)

3.1, iTunes 9, jailbreak, unlock »

[9 Sep 2009 | 6 Comments | ]

Apple released 3.1 with not so many feature enhancements. Please refrain from updating either iTunes or iPhone firmware using automatic updates. These will soon be patched for continued jailbreak and unlock support.
If you update, you may permanently lose any chance of unlock (atleast for months!). The following screenshot by Musclenerd of Dev Team fame proves that baseband for iPhone 3.1 can already be preserved. So, sit tight and wait for an updated firmware or better yet, pwnage tool to tailor an ipsw yourselves!

3.0.1, 3G, 3GS, iPhone 3.0.1 »

[31 Jul 2009 | 47 Comments | ]

UPDATE : Since iPhone 3.0.1 is a minor upgrade, it is still jailbreakable and unlockable. Please stay away from 3.1 firmware when released, it can be a disaster otherwise!
All you have to do is :
1) Update your iPhone to 3.0.1 firmware via iTunes
2) Use redsn0w to jailbreak. While using redsn0w – when prompted to choose the firmware, simply choose 3.0 firmware instead of 3.0.1 firmware and it should work just fine! This works with iPhone 2G, 3G and 3GS.
3) Enjoy your iPhone!
As usual, stay away from the update for …
