apple, ATT, Deal, iPhone 5, Preorder »

Apple iPhone 5 preorders debuted at 3:00 AM EST today giving folks in the west coast an unfair advantage. The delivery times are now showing a 2 week delay at Apple. Ordering from your carrier (in may case, AT&T which still says the iPhone 5 can be delivered on Sep 21st) or Walmart (at a discount, no less!) might be your best bets.
Ordering from your carrier is always the best route if you get some employer discounts. I ordered through AT&T Premier and got the upgrade fee waived automagically and …

apple, ATT, FaceTime, iOS 6, iPhone 4S »

Apple and AT&T decided that it is a great idea to charge for FaceTime on the iPhone! If you have a grandfathered unlimited data plan, you will not be able to FaceTime over cellular network. iOS 6 beta builds did not enforce the restriction but iOS 6 GM build (Gold Master) wasted no time splashing this message when I tried using FaceTime. AT&T expects you to sign up for their mobile share option which is expensive if you have only a line or 2 in your account. I have an …

ATT, T-Mobile »

[20 Mar 2011 | 2 Comments | ]

AT&T wasted no time in buying T-Mobile while Sprint were supposedly eyeing T-Mo. This is indeed great news for the consumers given the hassles with iPhone unlocking in the US GSM market. The 1700 GSM band that T-Mobile used exclusively for 3G network barred many iPhone users to compromise on data speeds to settle for EDGE speeds.
We can now expect the latest and greatest from Google and Apple – Android and iOS.
T-Mobile users, DON’T upgrade or buy any hardware from T-Mobile for now!

iPhone 4 is awesome with stunning hardware, looks making all other iPhones feel dumb and stupid! Apple cleverly left out ‘G’ from ‘iPhone 4G’ hinting at an impending iPhone 4G rollout expected in 2011. iOS name is licensed from Cisco to differentiate iPhone OS 4.0 from iPhone 4 I believe. There are some things we should be aware of before starting to obsess about the iGadget of the year!

AT&T’s Dirty Tricks yet again

AT&T is doing everything possible to tap the existing users into 2 more years of iPhone contract by …

3GS, ATT, Deal, Deals »

[24 May 2010 | 10 Comments | ]

It is evident that iPhone 4G is going to hit the scene this June. After Gizmodo’s leak and supposedly poor iPhone sales ever since, Apple decided to lower the price of the 3GS iPhone. It is available @ Walmart (Brick and Mortar stores only btw) starting 25th May, 2010. This may be the only chance to nab an iPhone 3GS with normal ETF of $175 (if you wish to cancel in the future).

Why a $100 price-cut on the most powerful iPhone ever?
Well, Gizmodo’s iPhone 4G leak supposedly weakened all iPhone …

Google’s Nexus One is one of the spiffiest mobile devices ever, packed with a 1GHz Snapdragon processor and 512 MB RAM. Hardware like this can definitely compete head-on with Apple’s iPhone 3GS.
Take a quick look at Nexus One’s capabilities :

Nexus One’s 3G Data Support : T-Mobile or AT&T?
The power packed Nexus One has support for Quad band Voice networks
GSM/Edge : 850/900/1800/1900 MHz (Quad Band Voice and EDGE Data support – T-Mobile and AT&T in USA)
HSPA : 900/1700/2100 MHz (Only T-Mobile in USA, No AT&T)
Google chose T-Mobile for providing faster data support in …

3.0, 3G Tether, ATT, hack, Hacks, Tethering »

[18 Jun 2009 | 31 Comments | ]

We saw the release of iPhone 3.0 firmware, a remarkable release in the iPhone history though without tethering support for some countries (US-AT&T being the BIG one!). Well, folks at BenM.at have achieved a feat that enables you to experience a seamless iPhone tethering experience! Seriously, this couldn’t have been easier/simpler!
Before you start :
1) Make sure you download and install iPhone firmware 3.0 from iTunes 8.2.
2) Make sure not to exploit this service thereby alarming ATT and giving them a chance to slap you with a hefty monthly bill, we …

The evil AT&T is at it again, this time with an even cheaper tactic to hose the average user. They have announced a contract-free iPhone 3G for a whopping $599/$699 (8GB/16GB) with a possible 32GB iPhone round the block(June ’09). Since they are still locking you with AT&T though without a contract, it is a lame idea by AT&T.
So how in the world are developers, tech-enthusiasts, T-Mobile lovers exposed to this amazing Apple’s offering? Well, Microsoft to the rescue and some crazy-ass tactics to hit AT&T hard, real hard 😉

Lets …

If you don’t have a land line at reach (users are migrating to cellular services, right!), how are you planning to call support services, be it Credit card, bank, UPS, Paypal, eBay or any company for that matter (which has a toll free number of course!)?
I am not much of a voice user on my Mobile phone, mostly data (3G will lets incoming calls hit your phone unlike EDGE which forwards your calls to Voicemail box!). I had to use support services frequently and I had a look at my …

Just a shout to those early adopters who stood in line for an iPhone and got a new line activated such that the contract can be terminated after a month by paying the ETF ($175) and owning the device without an enormously huge data plan requirement! Things get really interesting now! What if you slide a SIM with iPhone 2G plan into the 3G iPhone – will we be able to save $15 every month by gaining 200 free SMS messages and 2G data plan pricing!

In effect, for a 16GB …
