With a not so impressive launch, MobileMe team had a rough outing ever since! The much touted term ‘Push’ definitely didn’t make much sense given the delays involved, not to mention the long hours of server issues. Apple clearly under-estimated the number of users probably. Though they sold MobileMe packages ($99 and $149) they failed to accomodate all of them on the server which led to outages.

Apple published an apology for the MobileMe mixup finally! They have indeed taken off the word ‘Push’ from any of MobileMe’s service descriptions on me.com too! The best part being a free 30 day extension of your MobileMe service. Apple clearly indicates that they will start using ‘Push’ word once the 15 minute delay involved in Mac/PC sync is ironed out. Ever wondered if you can be alerted for that important Gmail message, much like an SMS? I have fully tested this option and it works amazingly great! Yeah, you can now turn off the automatically check after every 15/30/… minutes thereby saving you enormous battery on the power hungry yet efficient iPhone!
